The CSR “Corporate Social Responsibility” commitment movement, which has been increasingly interesting to companies in Morocco since the 2000s, is often presented as a managerial innovation. Now, innovating in company management strategies by integrating concerns other than profit-making has become an important necessity to ensure its sustainability.Managerial innovation is a concept established by Schumpeter, the first economist to have theorized it and considered it as the engine of economic growth. The integration of CSR into the company's strategy is, at first glance, an aspect of managerial innovation, characterized by the voluntary consideration of Sustainable Development imperatives and the interests of its Stakeholders. It leads the company to innovate in the way it develops and implements its overall strategy and its performance measurement and evaluation systems. It involves changes in its management policies, management practices, and in its relations with its Stakeholders. The objective of this study is to contribute to the analysis of motivating factors for companies to engage in societal commitment as a managerial innovation. Theoretically, we aim to develop the concept of managerial innovation and to establish a framework for analyzing motivations for CSR engagement, primarily leveraging Neo-Institutional Theory and Stakeholder Theory. Empirically, we identify and analyze the motivating factors for Moroccan companies labeled as CSR to commit to societal issues through a survey of these companies. The empirical study validates both theories and confirms that the main motivating factors for companies labeled as CSR to engage in societal commitment are:- Seeking legitimacy by responding to pressures from the institutional environment;- The desire to meet the expectations of stakeholders.
